This navigational prototype was created as part of my diploma thesis to look into the way people navigate the web and consume information. Even though our brain is strongly using interconnections for memorization most of our information consumption and processing is conducted in a very linear manner, especially reading. The web in its interconnected state is changing the way we consume information. Links take us from one page to another fostering a berry picking behavior instead of a concentrated linear processing.
This prototype was used to combine these two ideas. On the one hand the information is strongly interconnected allowing the user to find related information, on the other hand the interface is trying to show the user where she is coming from to create a stronger contextualization. Furthermore allowing the user to visually go back and forth within their browsing history. The interface is accompanied with visual search elments, allowing the user to visually explore the database and get immediate, responsive feedback.
